Easier to clean than wooden bars and reasonably sturdy, my hens are quite comfortable when they take themselves off to bed. One has cracked after only two weeks of use ! hence decided to have a spare set so that when the weather is pouring down can quickly swap them over for cleaning and drying.
Grey plastic with cute raised egg pattern on it. I pressume this is to give the chickens some grip, but it does make them a little less easy to clean.
The plastic is flimsier than I had expected and one of the bars arrived broken, however Omlet replaced this quickly with no quibbling so ten out of ten for customer service.
The bars come in two pieces which is much easier to move about than the old one piece wooden design. My only complaint would be they do not fit very snuggly together and leave a gap which could be big enough for a chickens foot or toe to slip through although to be fair this has not happened as yet.
Much better than the wood, comes up really clean but mine has cracked in one corner in the cold weather as it becomes brittle - shame.
Bars were broken on arrival, but I had to use them anyway because wooden ones have red mite and I've been trying everything to eradicate it with no success as yet. Have only been in one week so don't know whether effective yet and haven't got round to telling omlet that they were broken. They were helpful last time when glug was leaking and replaced it immediately.
Great idea, although do not fit as well as original wooden roosting bars. As not as well fitting do tend to moveabout when Chickens are in the Cube.
