Verified Reviews for Eglu Pro® - Extra Large Chicken Coop with Runs
The Last Chicken Coop I’ll Ever Buy
I bought the Omlet Pro for my flock of 10 very large Orpington cross hens and one extremely small but very loud Belgian d’Uccle rooster. When it arrived, I briefly questioned my life choices — the number of boxes gave strong IKEA-on-hard-mode vibes. But once we started building, the panic faded fast.
Everything went together with laser-like precision. Every bolt lined up, every panel made sense, and halfway through assembling it I realised: oh… this is what good design feels like. You can genuinely see the engineering brainpower that’s gone into this coop.
We opted for the automatic door, mostly because letting the chickens out is officially my husband’s job — and because once Trevor (our tiny Belgian d’Uccle with the lungs of an opera singer) starts crowing in the morning, he does not stop until freedom is granted.
Once assembled, I did have one lingering concern: would the door accommodate my girls’… generous proportions? That night, at dusk, we transferred everyone across to their new digs (they were deeply unimpressed).
The next morning, my husband went down to check the automatic door — and whether the chickens could actually squeeze through it.
They could. All of them. No feathers harmed.
Even better, every single hen used the nest boxes on day one, which honestly felt like winning chicken bingo.
This is the best — and last — coop I will ever buy. The design is next-level brilliant, and the ease of cleaning is almost suspiciously good. It’s clear this was designed by people who truly understand chickens and the humans who clean up after them.
If you’re on the fence — get off it. This coop is outstanding, and easily the best on the market. 🐓😄

Much larger and more practical than expected – ideal for big breeds
The Pro is genuinely far more spacious than it appears in photos and it comfortably accommodates large, heavy breeds with enough space for them to sit, lounge and reposition without crowding. That extra room will be particularly valuable in summer, when birds need space to spread out and regulate their body temperature.
I also really appreciate the separate nest boxes. I have a chronically broody hen (Babs) and having multiple nests means the others are not displaced or stressed when one box is occupied long-term.
The adjustable ventilation is a nice upgrade and gives confidence that airflow can be managed properly across different seasons. Cleaning is also a clear upgrade from the Cube. The pull-out trays, especially beneath the nest box area, make access easier and reduce awkward angles, which should significantly speed up routine cleaning.
Overall, the Pro feels like a genuinely considered improvement in both space and practicality. If you keep larger breeds or value ease of maintenance, it is bigger, more usable and more refined than you might expect.

THE BEST COOP EVER
I love the Eglu Pro coop! It’s so easy to clean! It’s easy to collect the eggs! It has the best and safest attachments and runs. My chickens love their coop and so do I! This is the best coop I’ve ever had and it’s made chicken ownership a dream.

great coop
I really like the eglu Pro. Does all they say it will do and more. Cool in summer, warm in winter, stays pretty dry in rainstorms.

The perfect coop
I’ve had nearly every Omlet coop over the years, and this one is by far my favourite.
The three separate nest boxes have completely stopped squabbles in the coop, as more than one hen can lay at the same time. I also like that they can still be shut off at night to stop the hens from sleeping in them.
I keep a mixed flock of bantams and hybrid hens, and this coop comfortably fits 11 of them. The easy-access doors at the bottom of the run are a real game-changer – no more crawling underneath to clean up or catch a stubborn girl who refuses to come out.
The ventilation is also really clever: the vents can be opened in summer for airflow, and closed in winter when extra warmth is needed.
I absolutely love this coop, and so do my hens. They still have access to the Cube, but every single one of them chooses to sleep in the Pro.

Really nice huge coop
We really like this coop! Its huge, plenty of space for the 6 chickens. Im a 67 yr old woman. I put it together by myself. Took me 7 hours. I did not have wheels. The pictures and part numbers helped a lot. 😊
I also got the 12 ft run attached, by myself, that took 8 hours. Having the pizza party with everyone helping would of been great but you do what you have to do 👍🏻 Very satisfied with the entire set up and the 6 girls like it too. I am very confident of the safety and sturdiness of this coop. With the ground screws no raccoon is getting in and the hawks are out of luck! Well built and will last a very long time, thank you 😊

Game changer
I have always had to crawl in through the run door to clean the dust bath under the coop. As soon as I saw this I knew I had to get one! It was a bit challenging to install because it was hard to get at the screws attaching the run to the coop. Once we got them out it was pretty easy to install and works great

Eglu pro unassisted build
The eglu pro is larger than expected. The instructions state that it requires two people to build. However I managed to do so on my own. It did take two days to complete however I'm 70 years old.
I found parts of the manual confusing because it wasn't clear about the orientation of some parts. However the video soon cleared that up. Overall I don't consider the build to be difficult even for one person with handyman skills.
My chickens were moved from the old coop and seemed to like the eglu pro very much.

Side access door
This is what I've needed all along with my coop and run set up. I don't have to be bent over while I tend to the auto waterer and the food bucket anymore.
