Good addition to the omlet cage. Allows herbie the dwarf to use more of the cage.

Really impressed with this playpen - it is ridiculously quick to assemble and put away again - my 5 year old can do it in a couple of minutes. Invested in this after a cheap fabric playpen was bitten through within minutes, and very happy with the purchase - hamster had plenty of space to play and, as long as we don't put anything they can climb on too close to the edge, there's no way they can escape! Knocking one star off as the plastic floor covering comes folded, which leaves sticking up ridges that our hamster has been able to nibble. Would be better to keep it rolled rather than folded so it would lie perfectly flat. But highly recommend this product.

I was hesitant to pay this much money for a cage, but the size of the cage impressed me and it also had a deep bin which gerbils need because they are burrowing animals. The cage measures 35" wide x 24" long x 19" tall with an 11 5/8" deep bin (that includes the transparent tray extension. It comes with a food bowl, a water bottle, a wheel and two compostable hides. I did get the "advanced ramp kit," too. I went directly online to the manufacturer where there was much more information (and a twenty percent off code). One reason I was looking into this cage is that it is pretty easy to lift. I live in the midwest where we do get the occasional tornado warning and my pets need to be brought into the basement. Other cages are too heavy for me to lift, so the Omlet cage was a good choice. A customer service person told me that it weighs about 20 lbs; when I got the package, it listed 21.8 pounds, which is very reasonable. This means that I can carry the cage down to the basement without having to chase my gerbils around and put them into a transport cage. I'll admit that it's a bit tricky getting the metal bar things under the lip of the tray, but I just took my time and actually wore rubber gloves so I could get a grip. I also used multiple coats of a child-safe shellac on the ramps and 2 platforms so that I could easily clean them. I love this cage. My gerbils love this cage. I have struggled trying to create my own DIY bin cage, trying to add plexiglass panels to a regular cage to create digging space, adding an expensive tank topper to a 40 gallon aquarium (and glass collects heat, and that can be a problem for midwesterners in the summer; remember, gerbils come from the desert steppe where there is vegetation and water--not from the desert). This cage has been the best solution for me. I'm attaching a picture of the cage after I assembled it (before I put my gerbils in).
