Took a while to erect and some difficulty with one screw which did not 'bite' (while putting the top on). Main problem was that the ground was not completely flat and this made construction difficult due to lack of alignment of parts (presumed that this was the problem rather than manufacturing error). The 'skirt' of the run made movement difficult. As we had ex battery hens who did not have strong legs we were advised to remove the ladder for the first two weeks to avoid injury. This meant that the hens had to be lifted into and out of their 'house' and also that some eggs were laid at the back of the run. It would have been extremely useful if there had been an access point at the back of the run to avoid kneeling and crawling in chicken faeces to get chickens and eggs out. However, the cube is easier to clean and I would recommend to others (although I do think it is expensive).

The cube is fab and the girls are very happy. Definitely a two man job to construct and I got the wrong instruction booklet in the package.

We've had our cube for nearly two years now so I feel I've had time to assess it properly. Pros: Easy to clean; good access (for us humans!); no where for red mite to hide; looks good; doesn't seem to deteriorate with age; doesn't need treating; the Omlet man who delivered & assembled it was excellent Cons: Expensive; parts didn't fit together properly (although to their credit Omlet did sort that out very quickly); looks second hand even when new (could be the moulding process?); nest box should have compartments; ladder is a bit too high & slippery; nest box should have holes for drainage/ventilation rather than the big slot; perches could be better - they are a bit grill like; I think advertising it can take 10 hens is pushing it a bit especially with the nest box situation. In summary it's a good product, but has a few design and quality control issues which if sorted would make it a great product.

Well, it looks like a good idea and they both used to peck at drops on the bottom of the glug but they simply won't drink from the nipples. We showed them how it worked, Suki seemed to work out how it worked but Daphne didn't. We added the old glug back in and they drank like they'd been in the desert. We tried this for a week and it was like some sort of CIA deprivation torture - each time we brought another water source in they drank and drink and drank. Daphne even tried to stretch to drink from the top! So now its almost at ground level and they do drink from the top. As far as our girls are concerned a big thumbs down.

Fairly soon after ordering the cube I was contacted to be informed that delivery would be delayed by 2 weeks. On arrival the cage sides of the run were bent but I managed to straighten them. They were not particularly well packed. I had problems constructing the cube and required advice as things didn't quite line up as expected. When completed it seemed like a good design but manufacturing quality was not 100%. One side has a gap large enough to put a screwdriver through. From all the reports and the price I expected a rolls royce hen house but I feel I got a 'seconds' quality item and service.

I have an Eglu Classic and have just acquired a Cube. The ventilation is just above the slatted perches (i.e. just where the chickens sleep), rather than under the perches in the Classic. I am a bit concerned about them sleeping in a draft. Otherwise, it is very well thought-out, but I am not finding it possible to move on my own. It could do with some handles, and a brake for people who live on slopes.

Easy to clean, and cosy for the girls.

Really pleased with it, now trying to save as we would like a big one! One of the quality points for me is ease of cleaning . In the future would you do one big enough for 18 chickens ( probably won't be able to afford it though).

Having had concerns over whether to buy a cube or timber chicken house partly on cost, I can say that I definitely made the right decision. The cube looks great in the garden and is so practical, east to erect (delivered flat packed because I live in South Wales), and so easy to maintain. Cleaning takes about 10 minutes, the back comes off for easy access and there are no real concerns over red mite etc. The additional investment is well worth while, the chickens and owners are all over the moon with the cube. Highly reccommended.

The cube + extension arrived on the date expected in five large boxes. After 5 hours we managed to assemble everything but we had problems with the lid not closing properly. After a few telephone conversations to Omlet, a new lid arrived two days later. I would say that is well designed but not perfectly manufactured. We have four buff orpington chickens and they really struggle with the ladder. I think this could be improved and we are in the process of modification as I write this! Ideally we could do with another extension for when we are out, but we will have to save up another £100 first. Pros: Easy to clean, Secure Cons: Very Expensive
