Universal Automatic Chicken Coop Door
The Ultimate Automatic Chicken Door
The Omlet Automatic Chicken Coop Door has a powerful electric motor and metal gear that is directly mounted on the door frame for maximum security. Unlike other automatic chicken coop door openers that work on a string and pulley system, the Omlet Autodoor cannot be simply lifted up when shut. This feature ensures that predators will not be able to move the door when it is closed. Your chickens can sleep soundly knowing they have one of the most secure automatic doors in the world.
Benefits of the Omlet Automatic Chicken Coop Door:
- Easy to install, no maintenance required
- Operated by light sensor or timer
- Powered by battery
- Works with all wooden chicken coops
- Improves coop security and insulation
- Compatible with the Eglu Cube
- Reliable in all weather conditions
- Built-in safety sensors
- Can be used with any chicken run or mesh
Omlet's Automatic Chicken Coop Door can be set to close at dusk and open at dawn. This setting will naturally follow the seasons, ensuring that your hens are safely tucked up when it gets dark and, as the days get longer, the Autodoor certifies that your hens can get out of bed, even when you're enjoying a lazy weekend retreat or staycation.
The light setting uses a sophisticated light sensor to automatically open and close the door at a specific and adjustable light level selected by you. An optional time delay can be added so that the door operates up to an hour after dawn or dusk to suit your flock’s routine. The light sensor has built-in intelligence to recognize and ignore temporary illumination from a security light or flashlight and will only open after a consistent period of light above the threshold set by you. This helps to assure that your chickens stay safe and protected at all times. Also, unlike other less advanced automatic doors, it is designed to prevent any unwanted openings in the middle of the night.
Time and Manual Settings
Another way to operate the Omlet automatic chicken door is by using the time setting. This allows you to set an exact time for the door to open in the morning and close in the evening. The advantage of this setting is that you have complete control over your chicken’s environment and you can set the Autodoor to meet your specific daily requirements. The control panel also has a manual function which allows you to open and close the door independently of the time or light settings. This application allows for total peace of mind and there is a built-in failsafe system for opening the door completely by hand.
Attaches Directly To The Eglu Cube
The Autodoor is designed to fit directly to the Eglu Cube chicken coops. If you have an Eglu Cube Mk2(model bought after 2016) it will already have attachments built into the front face and installation will only take a few minutes. On the other hand, for Eglu Cube Mk1 (model bought before 2016) customers a fittings pack is available to fit the automatic chicken door securely to your coop. In both cases you will not need to remove any parts or modify your Eglu Cube as the automatic door fits seamlessly into the design of your coop and your original Eglu door can continue to be operated with the Autodoor in place. A separate mounting bracket is required if you would like to attach the control panel to the main house in the Eglu Cube.
Install on Any Chicken Enclosure
The versatility of the unique frame and door design allows you to fit the Omlet automatic chicken door to any kind of chicken run, where you can choose to have the door opening to the left or to the right depending on which way you decide to fit the frame. You can attach the automatic door to the Omlet Walk-in-Enclosure as well as the run for the Eglu Go, Eglu Go Up and Eglu Cube chicken coops. You can also fit the Autodoor to traditional mesh style fencing so if you have a homemade coop and chicken run the automatic door will make a great addition to your setup. Step-by-step instructions are provided on how to fit your automatic chicken door to all different types of mesh.

Powered By Battery or Mains
Four AA batteries are all that is required to power the Omlet Autodoor, there is no need for a nearby power source and additional wiring. The door has been endurance tested under battery power and you can expect a set of batteries to last for 6 months. Please note that batteries are not supplied with the Automatic Chicken Coop Door and if you are using the Autodoor combined with a Coop Light you will have up to 4 months battery life.
If you would like to power your Autodoor from a main outlet then you must purchase the a Omlet-approved 12 V supply separately.
Please note: The 12V supply can only be used with Autodoors purchased after April 2023. Please check our FAQ section if you’re unsure about which Autodoor you have. The Autodoor should only be powered by mains using the Omlet-approved power adaptor. We cannot offer any warranty (expressed or implied), support or advice if you connect any other form of power supply to your Autodoor.
Built-in Safety Sensors
The Omlet Autodoor Chicken Coop Door has unique built in safety sensors that work in the same ways as elevator doors. The sensors help detect if any chickens are in the way of the door when it is gently closing. So, if you have a sleepy chicken resting in the doorway then one or both sensors will help detect it and and the door will open again to allow the chicken to move. The door will then automatically try to close again until there are no feathery obstructions in the way and your chickens are all safe inside the coop.
Optional Coop Light
The Coop Light is a great addition to your chicken coop as it helps to encourage chickens to go back into their coop or enclosure when it gets dark. Powered by the control panel of the Autodoor, the light will automatically turn on around 5 minutes before the door closes. This works on both the Time and Light setting on your Autodoor and you can also manually switch the Coop Light on at any time. This is particularly useful if you get home after dark and need to check that your hens are safely roosting.
The Coop Light can be attached to the inside your chicken coop, or to the side of your run.

Please note that if you bought your Automatic Chicken Coop Door before April 2023, the door will need to be powered by battery rather than mains if you want to add a Coop Light.

Flexible Control Panel Positioning
One of the great features of the automatic chicken coop door opener is that the LCD control panel is separate from the door itself and is connected via a durable cable. Mounting brackets are available to buy that allow you to fit the control panel to an Eglu Cube house. Also, you can position the control panel anywhere on your chicken run. Not only is the control panel easy to use, it is neatly enclosed in a triple weather-proof casing for durability and will look great as part of your setup. The control panel also features the light sensor for the automatic door.
Everything You Need In One Box
The Omlet Autodoor comes with everything you need in one complete package and the unique integrated frame and door assembly means you have limited assembly. Screws and attachments are included in the box for attaching your automatic chicken door to either an Eglu Cube Mk2(model made after 2016) or a wooden chicken coop of any design. Simply install 4 AA batteries in the control panel and connect it to the door unit using the cable, press the on button and it is ready to go. If you would like to position the Autodoor onto a wire mesh or you would like to mount the control panel onto the Eglu Cube house rather than the enclosure then please choose an attachment kit.

Frequently Asked Questions
There are two main reasons. Firstly, having a light in the coop will encourage the chickens to return to their house when it gets dark. This is especially good if you have one or two hens that tend to stay out longer than the rest.
Secondly, it’s useful to have a light in the coop if you want to check on your hens when it's dark, maybe as you come home from work or just before you go to bed. The hens won’t be bothered by you turning on the light for a minute and peeking into the coop.
The mains power supply only works with Autodoors bought after April 2023. If you’re unsure about which version of the door you have, you can check the control panel. If yours has a number (014.0130) in the top left corner of the Warning sticker, you can power your Autodoor with battery or mains. If it doesn’t, you should only power your door with batteries.
Only use good quality AA batteries with your Autodoor. Please make sure you use 4 batteries that are the same brand, same type and same energy level.
If you have an Autodoor where you have the option to change the language of the control panel, you can use either alkaline or lithium batteries. If you have an older Autodoor, you should not use lithium batteries, as this may affect the function of the door. If you're unsure about which Autodoor you have, please contact out customer service team and they will be able to help.

Excellent product for the lazy chook owner - Emily,
It's just so hard to get out of bed sometimes to let the poor chookies out for the day! And it's so great to know if we're out in the evening that they're safely tucked away once the door closes. Relatively easy to assemble with good instructions, super sturdy product. Would recommend.

Super easy to assemble and attach the auto door, could likely do this with wood you have lying around home but saves time with measuring and cutting!

Great door, battery life, but not customizable enough. - Daniela,
Love this door and absolutely recommend it. It would be perfect if I could adjust the settings to use light at night when my hens go in by themselves, but be able to use time in the morning when I don’t want them out as early. My hens free range and I like for them to eat inside the coop for a few hours in the morning before heading out. Fuller bellies means less damage to my plants outside.
