Can chickens fix the world?

In a world in short supply of things that make us feel good, chickens change us for the better in ways you never thought possible. From their mesmerizing sounds and movements to their individual personalities and affection for you as part of their flock, they transform your mood and your way of life, opening up your mind to new possibilities.

Can chickens fix the world? Maybe not. But they might just fix you, and that's a start.

“They become a reason to get out of bed in the morning.”

Tanya bailey because of the chicken

For students and visitors who spend time with Tanya’s chickens, the experience is often transformative

Experienced chicken keeper, Dr. Tanya Bailey, is an Animal Assisted Interactions (AAI) Program Coordinator at the University of Minnesota and founder of PAWS (Pet Away Worry & Stress) Program. Tanya works with registered therapy chickens as a way to support human wellbeing, and to deepen the connection between people and chickens. Omlet co-founder, Hanns, went to meet with Tanya and learn more about PAWS by seeing the program in action.

Omlet Eglu chicken coops

We invented the Eglu chicken coop for the hobby chicken keeper. With 20 years in design, we’ve never stopped innovating. Omlet Eglu coops are the easiest to clean, most predator resistant, and the best investment you can make for your chickens and yourself.

GRADE A CHICKENS

Because of the chicken campaign
Could your local school benefit from the transformative power of chickens?

Since 2004 Omlet has provided chicken coops and chickens to schools all over the world. Offering students the opportunity and time to be outside, tend to a flock of chickens and learn skills not normally catered for in a standard curriculum is proven to increase student wellbeing, engagement and a sense of achievement.

This year we will be providing 10 schools with a full chicken keeping set up and ongoing support to ensure that students, teachers and the community around them can experience the transformative power of chickens. And we want your nominations.

The curious collective

20 years later, we're still asking questions and inventing solutions.

We’re Omlet and since 2004 we’ve been asking the question why don’t more people keep chickens?

Why? Because we believe chickens are therapy. Spending time with them is healing. They remind us life can be simple. They give us fresh eggs. A routine. A purpose. A laugh. Connect us to nature. Everyone needs that.

It all began with a modern, easy clean coop called the Eglu and ever since, through remarkable designs we've been on a mission to make chicken keeping accessible for everyone.
