Solid construction, easy to clean and customisable!
Beth,
We share our home with 5 cats and so we have litter boxes dotted around the house in order to accommodate their needs. Given that litter boxes are essentially on display I wanted something that could blend into the background and help to keep the space looking tidy and clean. So I was pleased to find the Maya top entry litter box. Putting it together was simple, with clear and easy to follow instructions. I found that the litter liner slotted in well and felt really secure. For us one of the big bonuses was that because it's a simple white cube we've been able to decorate the exterior to cat-ify it. I'm sure it could be painted with the correct prep, but we used a self adhesive vinyl wallpaper so that it should be cleanable :-) Our cats are already used to jump-in litter boxes, so convincing them to use it wasn't a problem, however, they have been reluctant to use it with the lid on. We've only had the tray for a week though, so I will be trying again to see if I can convince them it's a good addition. The only slight negative is that I think dimensionally it could be a little bigger. My cats vary in size from a small and petite 3.5kg up to a big and chunky 6.5kg. For my biggest cat, while he can use the tray fine, I think he would benefit from having a little more space around him - and potentially he will never be comfortable going in through the lid. I appreciate that there would be a trade off between whether it can fit neatly into the corner of a living space or not, but I do think a larger breed of cat, such as a Maine Coon, might feel even more constrained in the box. Perhaps a new addition could be added to the range for large breed cats? However, even with the size, I would recommend this tray to other cat owners - and I suspect I will be adding another of these to our litter set up in the future, as they are definitely an improvement over the majority of litter trays we've had in the past!

Great, but could be better
Nicola,
We bought 2 of the Maya front entrance boxes with extra storage, and they look great in our lounge. An extra bonus is room for a cat bed on the top (maybe Omlet could make one specifically to fit - we had trouble sourcing one the right size). We had a couple of 'accidents' when we first put them in place due to the cats managing to wee down the tiny gap between the liner and the front door but otherwise they've been a great success. There are a couple of things that could be improved though... I'm mystified why the wire support around the top of a litter tray liner that is designed to go into a rectangular box is round. It sticks out at the front and stops the door from closing properly. I ended up bending the wire to make corners, so it fits in neatly, but was worried that it would snap in my hands. It's very difficult to hook the back of the liner over the little 'ledge' screwed to the back of the box. The only way to do this is to get on your hands and knees and either bend your arm at a most peculiar angle or stick your head virtually inside the box. If the liner isn't hooked over the ledge it sags at the back and the liner starts to crumple inwards. It would make far more sense to have a wire insert in the back of the liner the same as the one in the front. The bag would then stand upright on its own, and the ledge could be dispensed with. A small re-design for the liner and you would have a 5 star product.
