Actually layer pellet can cause liber damage to malesits best to feed them adult game bird pellet and not chicken Even if it is female game layer woukd be better because quail need more protein than chickens

The injured wing is a ruse. Most likely the male views you as a threat to his nest, & is trying to lead you away... This is a natural instinct of birds of most species.

A quail has made a nest in a small rosemary plant in my courtyard. The male appears to have an injured wing. Can I or should I not set out food for them? If so should it be something special since she is sitting on her nest. She just got done laying all of her eggs and began sitting on her nest 2 days ago. I see the male running around like a nut with that injured wing. It breaks my heart. How can I help? Thanks so much!

The tips are very useful. I plan to start breeding a variety of quail. Where I live there are no stores selling quail feed. So what do I feed the chicks and grown quail? Would someone out there advise a proper nutritious recipe?
