Hi I hope I can get an answer soon as possible, my female's eggs are hatching, 1 is 2 days old now, what is the name of the budgie baby forumla, or any food I can give to the mom and dad to feed the babies. If it can be made from home easy, or if at a pet store or grocery store, The budgie Infant formula, Is that what the mom and dad feed the babies. Any other advice would be great. ASAP Thanks in advanec

We have a total of 15 baby budgies from 3 pairs. 1 is older because she's first born. She's an albino. She's born on August. The 14 babies was born on Dec. 2018.We hand fed them all since they were a babies 2weeks old. We bought the babies food from the pet store. Every stage( month/s) there advisable foods. Ask for the pet store. They like the mealworms( dried ones). They really love to be sprayed by water at times when it's hot and love bird bath too. They're so cute when they bath.

My budgie is six years old. For about 2 months now, his behavior has changed. He will not jump on our finger anymore. When will try he bites us. He doesn't come out of his cage either. He stares in the mirror a lot. He is losing this feathers on his chest. I came see large areas of his skin instead of feathers. I am afraid it won't be long and he will have a bear body. I am giving him molting food. What else should I do?

Hi I am finding your site to be very informative, it's hard to find specific info unless messaging so glad to have found this site. Thank you for all your efforts. I do have several questions I've been a bird owner for close to 2 years, right now I have a total of 7 birds. My 1st 2 mated last Sept. I wasn't ready for it I happened to have a coconut shell in the cage and she laid 3 eggs, she did it every day for 3 days not every other day as most advice say they do. I immediately took all the other birds out and put them in another cage. After day 5 she stopped laying on them, she'd occasional go in there but not knowing exactly how much time she laid on them while I was away working, I kept them until day 25 in which she kick one egg out of the coconut, so I took the coconut out and 2 looked transparent one looked like it had something in it. I'm not sure why it didn't work out for her I did see them mating the day before she laid the 1st egg. So after that I separated my males and females. In Dec. I decided that I would try again but with a different female same male and put in a nesting box and again I saw them mating and then that day she laid her 1st egg, I know that they mate and then 10 days later they start to lay. She laid her 1st egg 12/31 2nd egg 1/1 this kind of scared me thinking the same would happen as with my other female, but the 3rd egg laid 1/3 4th egg 1/5 5th egg 1/7 and 6th egg 1/9. That part made me feel better. It's 1/20 and none of the eggs have hatch yet I expected the 1st to hatch 1/18. She doesn't always have all 6 under her when she's laying on them, but she has only come out of the nesting box a few minimal times and daddy is feeding her well and I've supplementing by putting in some Nutra-berries, mashed egg, carrot shavings and spinach in the nesting box just incase daddy isn't feeding her enough was that ok for me to do or does that discourage him from feeding her as often? The last time she was out of the nest I peeped in and took a picture of the eggs and saw in the picture one of the eggs had a little pit hole in it but the membrane is still intact, I noticed that had happened to one of the eggs from the previous female's egg is that common to happen when they are rotating the eggs? And does that mean that chick won't survive? Also what is the possibility of all 6 hatching since it's been 20 days since she laid the 1st egg? Could it be that the 1st few days she didn't lay on them as well as she should have? I'm anxiously awaiting for them to hatch, I have on hand the Exact bird formula, but I'm going to wait to hand feed them until the are close to 21 days old, unless of course she doesn't appear to be feeding them. A big problem I do have is that I work mostly 7 days a week and I'm gone up to 13 hours a day, 3 of those days I'm a Nanny and can take the kids to my house if I need to be assisting in hand feedings, if mommy isn't doing the job. But my other job I don't have that option, so what happens if the assisted feedings go longer than 4 hours I don't want to lose my babies. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but it's better to plan for the unexpected, but hope for the best and let nature take it's course. So far she has been a wonderful mommy with the exception of not always having all 6 under her and daddy is amazing, if this does become an issue would it be advisable to remove mommy and allow daddy to take over feeding the babies? Thank you for any advise you can give me and I will let you know how things work out. Hopefully I'll be able to tell you all 6 survived. Thanks again for making this site available with so much wonderful info to us bird owners and lovers

I have handfed quite a lot of budjies and other birds before. Now I have a 2.5 month old budgie that just refuses to go off the wet food to seeds. I have no idea what to do anymore? I have left jim for an entire day without feeding yet he would rather starve than eat his seeds. Please help

Hi. Very useful info. I am breeding budgies and hand raising them for people. I have handraised an orphaned indian ringneck parakeet in the past. They are very grumpy during adolecence (think, temper tantrums).I hope a budgie will be much less grumpy. I have 3 babies and i have only taken the oldest one from the nest so far. He is 2 weeks old but growing fast.

I’m trying to hand feed 3 baby budgies, but all are at different stages. Mom was attacking them. Oldest won’t eat formula- eating seeds. I’m wondering if it’s starving?
