Hi, I have two rainbow budgies aged just over 2 years who have just produced and raised their first two chicks. All seem healthy and happy to be together. The chicks are just over 6 weeks old. I have read that they should be separated from their parents at 7 weeks old. Is this right? and if so why? Any help would be much appreciated

Loreta, I used to have budgies as a child, we used to chirp to them and whistle and click at them to help call them down. This works if you haven't tried it already. Get involved in the conversation you have interrupted! ; ) Mark it depends on the size of the cage however I uaed to keep 30-40 in an aviry and never saw a fight break out once Karlie just try hold your hand in the cage with some treats on it. That will work if your patient. Get them used to your smell before you hold them.

Is the 2 male and 2 female combination in a single cage a good idea?

My budgies are quiet but they're very active, I give them food and water daily and they have many toys. My only main concern is their quietness. They are usually quiet when humans are around. But if I'm not around they always chirp. Is it normal for budgies to only chirp when they're alone or should I be concerned?
