A Real Joy - Sue,

The Gingernut Ranger is an absolute joy to have in our garden; friendly, inquisitive, tame and so easy to look after. Safe for the little grandchildren to be around, weather resistant and lays well all year.

Awesome hens - Penninebothy,

Fantastic hens for the newbie chicken keeper; hardy, docile, inquisitive and friendly. Prolific egg layers. My first flock, established 3.5 years ago, consisted of 2 GNRs and 2 Speckledies - they have brought me so much joy. Whilst they are so gregarious and so loving , I would add a cautionary note that high-yielding hybrids are quite short-lived - prone to egg peritonitis, and because of their friendliness it REALLY hurts when they have to go. I have one Speckledy left; my now 20 strong flock (be warned- hen keeping is very, very addictive!) is now made up of pure breeds - it is harder to win their affection, but eventually you do.

Lovely birds - Leanne,

I have two gingernuts and they are amazing! Both are super friendly and lay everyday! Hettie the eldest likes to do her own thing however Hilda, will happily sit on your knee and cuddle. Two different personalities but both lovely in their own way. Highly recommend!

excellent breed - Devon,

excellent breed great as a pet beautiful eggs

Beautiful cheeky chick - Eileen,

14 weeks ago, I had 8 baby chicks hatch. The eggs came as a mixed selection so finding out the breeds has been an interesting journey. There was one lovely little chick I couldn't identify. I called her my "cheeky chick". She follows me everywhere and if I bend down, will take every opportunity to jump on my knee or back. I have recently found out she is a Gingernut and what an apt name for her. She is a wonderful bird and loves to be cuddled. I don't know about her egg laying yet as she is only a baby. I think she would be perfect for children.
